Josiah: A Profile

Josiah was the final “good” king of Judah. He began to reign at eight years old, and he died at 39. But in those 31 years he impacted his nation greatly for God. This is more than just an historical profile, however. The account of Josiah’s life and reign has much to teach Christians today.

Just as in Jeremiah’s day, people today value skill, power, and riches above just about everything else. In fact, many put their trust in these whether they possess them or someone else does. God Makes It Personal (Jeremiah 31:31-34)

God made a covenant with Israel at Mount Sinai, but they couldn’t keep it. God knew they would not be able to obey and honor Him. No one can do this in our initial sinful condition.
