Sermons on Holy Spirit (Page 2)

Fully Functional Faith

Sermon text: Philippians 2:12-13 While salvation occurs at a point in time, it is not only a once and done event. After you’re saved, you should continue to grow and develop as a Christian. This is what the apostle Paul meant when he wrote, “work out your own salvation.” A believer’s testimony is much more than recounting the day they accepted Christ. What is God doing in your life right now?

Overcoming Temptation

Sermon text: Luke 4:1-13 Every believer faces temptation. Jesus did, and we should expect to as well. We can learn a lot about how to deal with temptation from how Jesus handled it. The core of His success was the filling of the Holy Spirit and the power of God’s Word.

Don’t Try…Die

Sermon text: Galatians 2:20 Many followers of Christ live what could be called a Christian lifestyle. They pursue choices that they believe match up with Scripture and avoid those which don’t. There’s nothing wrong with this. In fact, it’s commendable to wanting to live in accordance with biblical standards. But it’s also easy for this to tip into religion. And Christians aren’t called to be religious. We’re called to be surrendered to Jesus.

Let the Spirit Lead

Sermon Text: Acts 16:6-10 The Holy Spirit would not allow Paul and his fellow travelers to go north or south. So they kept on going until they ran out of road. Only then did Paul receive his next directive from the Lord. This episode teaches us a great deal about how the Holy Spirit can lead our lives.

Crabgrass in the Lawn of Life

Sin can destroy every aspect of your life. But Jesus’ finished work on the cross is greater than the power of sin. He is able save you and cleanse you of all unrighteousness. But you have to ask Him.

On Call (2 Timothy 4:1-5)

We never know when the Lord will lead us to talk with someone about Him. It may with an individual who is searching for answers, or someone who thinks they know everything. He could want to us to correct an erring believer or witness to an unbeliever. Because we cannot know when those opportunities will come, we need to be ready all the time.

Prayer First (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

In order to be in tune with God’s will, believers need to pray. It’s really that simple. But prayer isn’t simple. It’s more than just something to do at mealtime or before bed. It needs to be kingdom focused. That’s what Paul describes in today’s text. Christians need to pray for others, but especially for our leaders. And the goal of our prayers is to see those we pray for come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

What God Expects of Us (2 Corinthians 5:14-17)

Christians are new in Jesus Christ. Old habits and ways of living should be in the past. What should the new life in Christ look like? Pastor Chuck delves into what God expects of those who call on Jesus as Savior and Lord.

How You Can Know (Romans 8:14-17)

You can trust God’s promises and His word to know your salvation is assured. But the Holy Spirit also gives witness to the fact that you belong to Christ. A true believer will live a life yielded to the Holy Spirit. In turn, the Holy Spirit reminds you of your adoption into God’s family and your future inheritance.
